2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs
For the second consecutive year, the Edmonton Oilers and the Florida Panthers are set to clash in the Stanley Cup Final.
The Oilers secured their spot in the fourth and decisive round of the playoffs on Thursday, defeating the Dallas Stars 5-3 in Game 5 of their series.
Team captain Connor McDavid netted the game-winning goal in the second period, contributing to Edmonton`s fourth goal as they consistently countered Dallas`s offensive pushback.
This victory marks the second straight year the Oilers have eliminated the Stars in the Western Conference Final, having accomplished the same feat in six games during the 2024 playoffs.
Edmonton will host Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final against the reigning champions on Wednesday, June 5. Recall that in the previous season`s championship series against the Panthers, the Western Conference winners mounted a near-miraculous comeback from a 3-0 deficit before ultimately losing in Game 7.
