Forward Anthony Beauvillier is set to remain with the Washington Capitals after signing a contract extension.
The team announced on Thursday that Beauvillier, who was a free agent, has agreed to a two-year deal worth $5.5 million. This new contract carries an annual average value, or cap hit, of $2.75 million.
Beauvillier joined the Capitals late last season, finishing the campaign with the team after being acquired in a trade from the Pittsburgh Penguins in March.
The 28-year-old winger had a busy 2023-24 season, playing for multiple teams. Prior to his time with the Penguins and Capitals, he was part of the Vancouver Canucks, Chicago Blackhawks, and Nashville Predators.
In his combined appearances for the Penguins and Capitals during the past season, Beauvillier recorded 15 goals and 10 assists across 81 games.
Looking at his full NHL career, which includes stints with the New York Islanders, Canucks, Blackhawks, Predators, Penguins, and Capitals, Beauvillier has accumulated a total of 131 goals and 140 assists for 271 points over 631 games.
Originally from Sorel-Tracy, Quebec, Beauvillier was a first-round selection, picked 28th overall by the Islanders in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
