New York Rangers forward Artemiy Panarin spoke in an interview about the outcome of the “Match of the Year” between NHL and KHL stars, which concluded with a dominant 15-3 victory for the NHL side.
Question: When you were coming up with this match, did you expect it to turn into what we see now? Tickets sold out immediately, despite the cost. Is this what you were striving for?
Panarin: It`s difficult to speak about specific goals. This match is something I began organizing three years ago, initially just as a simple charity initiative – essentially, “whoever wishes to help, can.” Now, thanks to the event`s scale, we can attract more funds and sponsors. It`s great to be able to play hockey, have fun, for people to watch a good match, and simultaneously help those in need.
Question: Your training camp starts in two months. In the KHL – in two weeks. Why such a difference in the final score?
Panarin: The level has slightly changed over the past year compared to the previous match. This could be due to the KHL`s level, or the NHL`s level. Everyone can interpret that for themselves.
