The Chicago Blackhawks and goaltender Arvid Söderblom have successfully come to terms on a new agreement, thereby averting an arbitration hearing.
On Saturday, the team officially announced that the netminder has signed a two-year contract. This deal carries an average annual value of $2.75 million.
Söderblom, aged 25, participated in a career-high 36 games during the past season. He recorded a 10-18-7 record, along with achieving career-best statistics: a 3.18 goals-against average and an .898 save percentage.
The undrafted Swedish goaltender has accumulated a career goals-against average of 3.55 and a save percentage of .889 across 86 National Hockey League appearances, all of which have been with the Blackhawks organization.
Söderblom`s salary arbitration hearing had previously been scheduled for July 28.
