Following a promising second season, forward Dmitri Voronkov is set to continue his career with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The team announced Saturday that they have re-signed the restricted free agent to a two-year contract valued at $8.35 million total, carrying an average annual value (AAV) of $4.175 million. The deal was reported on July 5, 2025.
Voronkov, aged 24, had a strong performance last season, recording 23 goals and 24 assists for a total of 47 points in 73 games.
Blue Jackets President and General Manager Don Waddell expressed satisfaction with the agreement, stating, “We are very pleased to reach this agreement with Dmitri as he is an important part of our young core. He has size, strength and excellent hands and has a chance to be a very special player. We look forward to his continued growth and development as a Blue Jacket.”
The six-foot-five Russian winger was originally drafted by the Blue Jackets in the fourth round, 114th overall, in the 2019 NHL Draft.
Before making the transition to North America for the 2023-24 season, Voronkov played four seasons in the KHL. He was also a member of the Russian team that won a silver medal at the 2022 Olympics.
