The St. Louis Blues have secured a member of their goaltending duo by signing backup netminder Joel Hofer to a two-year contract extension.
The team announced the agreement on Saturday. The contract is valued at $6.8 million in total, resulting in an average annual value (AAV) of $3.4 million.
Upon announcing the signing, the Blues posted on X (formerly Twitter) that Hofer, with his new two-year deal, will not be subject to offer sheets. This statement appears to be a subtle reference to the team`s significant offer sheet activity last year involving Edmonton Oilers forward Dylan Holloway and defenseman Philip Broberg, both players who were crucial to St. Louis`s successful playoff run.
Hofer, 24 years old, participated in 31 games during the 2024-25 season. He finished the season with a record of 16 wins and 8 losses, a .904 save percentage, and a 2.64 goals-against average. He also recorded one shutout.
The goaltender, a native of Winnipeg, was originally selected by the Blues in the fourth round (107th overall) of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
