The Calgary Flames` coaching staff will welcome a new specialist in the upcoming season. The team confirmed on Tuesday that Dave Lowry will assume the role of assistant coach.
His predecessor, Brad Larsen, is departing the club due to family circumstances.
Lowry, father of Winnipeg Jets captain Adam Lowry, previously served for three years as an assistant with the Seattle Kraken.
The Sudbury, Ontario native has also held similar positions with the Jets and Los Angeles Kings, and previously served with the Flames for three years, starting in 2009.
In his playing career, the 60-year-old Lowry spent 19 seasons in the NHL (from 1985 to 2004), appearing in over 1,000 games for teams including the Vancouver Canucks, St. Louis Blues, Florida Panthers, San Jose Sharks, and Flames.
With his arrival, the coaching staff will be fully assembled. It includes head coach Ryan Huska, along with assistants Trent Cull, Cail MacLean, Jamie Pringle (video analyst), and Jason LaBarbera (goaltending coach).
