The Vancouver Canucks have bolstered their defensive ranks by signing defenseman Pierre-Olivier Joseph. The club announced on Wednesday that Joseph agreed to a one-year contract valued at $775,000.
Joseph, who is 26 years old, spent the last season splitting his time between the St. Louis Blues and the Pittsburgh Penguins. During this period, he recorded three assists over 47 games played.
Originally from Laval, Quebec, Joseph was a first-round draft pick, selected 23rd overall by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. He made his debut in the league with the Penguins during the 2020-21 season.
Throughout his NHL career to date, he has participated in 194 games, accumulating a total of eight goals and 32 assists.
