The Washington Capitals announced Saturday that they have signed forward Justin Sourdif to a two-year contract worth $1.65 million. This move comes after the team acquired him in a trade earlier this month.
Sourdif was acquired from the Florida Panthers on Thursday in exchange for a second-round pick in 2026 and a sixth-round pick in 2027.
The 23-year-old spent the 2024-25 season playing for the Charlotte Checkers, the AHL affiliate of the Panthers. He registered 34 points (16 goals, 18 assists) in 43 regular-season games.
In the playoffs, he contributed 10 points (four goals, six assists) over 18 games as the Checkers reached the Calder Cup Final before losing in six games to the Abbotsford Canucks.
Sourdif`s career AHL stats include 96 points (35 goals, 61 assists) across 149 games.
The forward from Richmond, British Columbia, has also played four NHL games. This past season, he scored his first NHL goal in one of those appearances.
He was originally drafted by the Panthers in the third round (87th overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft.
