Claude Giroux will continue playing for the Ottawa Senators.
The team announced Sunday that the seasoned forward has agreed to a one-year contract extension, preventing him from becoming a free agent.
The extension is valued at a base salary of $2 million for the upcoming season, with potential earnings reaching $4.75 million through performance bonuses.
In a statement, Senators President and General Manager Steve Staios commented, “Claude provides our team with valuable veteran leadership and a competitive spirit. He has been a reliable influence both during games and off the ice. We look forward to having him back next year.”
Prior to the 2022-23 season, Giroux joined Ottawa on a three-year contract following a career that included parts of 15 seasons in Philadelphia. Over his three years with the Senators, the 37-year-old forward missed only one regular-season contest, accumulating 71 goals and 193 points.
During the 2024-25 season, he recorded 15 goals and 35 assists.
Across his extensive 18-year NHL career, Giroux has tallied 365 goals and 1,116 points in 1,263 regular-season games. He also contributed 29 goals and 86 points in 101 playoff appearances.
