CSKA Moscow has officially announced the signing of Canadian forward Rhett Gardner, as confirmed by the club`s press service.
The 29-year-old hockey player has agreed to a two-year contract with the KHL team. This move follows earlier reports, including one from `Sport-Express` on July 6, suggesting Gardner was expected to join CSKA.
Gardner spent the previous season in the American Hockey League (AHL), playing for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, the primary affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers. During the 2022-23 AHL regular season, he registered 18 points (5 goals, 13 assists) in 62 games. He participated in 3 playoff games, recording no points.
He also has prior NHL experience with the Dallas Stars, who selected him 116th overall in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
