Former UFC fighter Dan Hardy recently shared his perspective on how Islam Makhachev might fare if he moved up to the welterweight division.
Comparing Makhachev`s potential success at 170 pounds to that of his training partner and former lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, Hardy expressed his belief that Islam would be the more successful fighter in that weight class. According to Hardy, Makhachev appears physically larger than Khabib did at lightweight, which would aid his transition to a higher weight class.
Furthermore, Hardy noted that Makhachev`s striking skills have significantly improved since his only professional loss. Based on these factors, Dan Hardy concluded his assessment by describing Islam Makhachev as a more well-rounded and versatile mixed martial artist overall.
Hardy made these comments during an interview with Submission Radio.
