Daniel Sprong Linked to KHL Moves: CSKA and Avangard Show Interest

Forward Daniel Sprong has reportedly attracted interest from KHL clubs CSKA Moscow and Avangard Omsk.

During the past season, Sprong split time between three NHL teams (Vancouver Canucks, Seattle Kraken, and New Jersey Devils) and the AHL with the Coachella Valley Firebirds. Sources indicate that Avangard Omsk head coach Guy Boucher has a personal interest in the 28-year-old forward. It is suggested that Sprong`s potential signing with Avangard could result in the departure of current player Vladimir Tkachev.

Sprong`s hockey journey began in Amsterdam, Netherlands, his birthplace. At the age of seven, his family relocated to Quebec to support his career aspirations. He holds the distinction of being only the third player from the Netherlands to compete in the NHL. The report emphasizes that as of now, Sprong has not given his final agreement to move to Russia.

According to the report, Sprong recorded 7 points (2 goals, 5 assists) in 30 NHL regular season games during the 2024-25 season.
