
Marco Scandella has officially hung up his skates, bringing an end to a distinguished career.
The Canadian defenseman, at 35 years old, announced his retirement from the National Hockey League on Thursday, concluding a remarkable journey that spanned 14 seasons in the elite league.
Scandella`s last professional season was 2023-24, where he played 65 games for the St. Louis Blues, contributing two goals and eight points to his team`s efforts.
His NHL path began when he was selected 55th overall by the Minnesota Wild in the 2008 NHL Draft. He then spent significant time, parts of seven seasons, developing and playing with the Wild.
Throughout his extensive 784-game NHL career, the Montreal native also made stops with the Buffalo Sabres and his hometown Montreal Canadiens, before finishing his tenure in the league with the Blues.
Marco Scandella closes the chapter on his professional hockey career, accumulating a total of 51 goals and 119 assists over his impressive time in the NHL.
