Calgary Flames forward Connor Zary has officially signed a new three-year, $11.3 million contract, an agreement he believes offers him a “clean slate” as he prepares for the upcoming season. The 23-year-old expressed significant relief at the conclusion of protracted negotiations, which were complicated by a season marred by injuries.

Zary, who missed the final 11 games of last season, confirmed he is now fully healthy and eager to prove his worth. General Manager Craig Conroy highlighted that the contract provides both financial stability for the club and a sense of security for the player.

Known for his exceptional stickhandling and playmaking abilities, Zary is widely anticipated to develop into a 20-goal, 50-point player. There is also ongoing speculation that he might transition to a center position, a move that would address a key area of need for the team`s offensive production.

Finalizing Zary`s contract represents a strategic move for GM Conroy, effectively removing a major distraction for the Flames. This allows the talented forward to fully concentrate on his game and maximize the opportunities that lie ahead. The three-year term was crucial for both player security and the team`s long-term planning, with hopes for Zary to consistently achieve 50-60 points. As Zary himself put it, he feels there`s always something to prove, aiming to step forward each year and let the results speak for themselves.
