Paul Hughes has withdrawn from his anticipated main event bout against Jay-Jay Wilson next month due to a knee injury. The County Derry fighter’s lightweight clash with Wilson was scheduled to headline the Professional Fighters League’s second event in Belfast on April 16.
Hughes, expressing his deep disappointment, confirmed on Wednesday that he requires knee surgery.
Stepping in as his replacement at the SSE Arena will be Donegal’s Darragh Kelly. Kelly, boasting an undefeated professional record of nine wins, is now set for the most significant fight of his career against the New Zealand opponent.
