Ahead of the KHL 3×3 Superfinal third-place game, League President Alexei Morozov presented a commemorative award to goaltender Ilya Sorokin.
Sorokin was inducted into the club of record holders for the number of shutouts. To join this exclusive group, a player must achieve 60 shutouts in the League, which is exactly how many Sorokin recorded before his departure from the KHL. He joins Vasily Koshechkin (90 shutouts) and Alexander Eremenko (63 shutouts) in this elite club.
Sorokin played in the KHL from 2012 to 2020, appearing in 313 games for Metallurg Novokuznetsk and CSKA Moscow. In 2019, Sorokin won the Gagarin Cup and was named the playoff MVP.
