Dana White is making a significant move into the boxing world. It was recently announced that TKO Boxing will launch with a major fight: Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford. This bout was initially planned for September 12 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
However, an update suggests the date might now conflict with UFC 320 on September 13, potentially leaving the plan uncertain. The location might also change; Turki Alalshikh informed Ring Magazine that it will be a Riyadh Season PPV event with potential destinations including New York, Los Angeles, alongside Las Vegas.
Despite the current uncertainties surrounding the fight details, this development earned the UFC president praise from `The Problem Child`, Jake Paul, despite their known public disagreements in the past.
Jake Paul Gives Dana White Credit for Promoting Canelo vs Crawford Without Funding It
In a social media post, Jake Paul expressed his respect for Dana White, highlighting his apparent strategy to promote one of the year`s biggest fights without personally financing it. White had previously stated his team would manage the Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford fight entirely, just as they do with UFC events.
This task became more complex when the fight date was potentially moved, possibly coinciding with Noche UFC in Mexico, scheduled for September 13. This weekend could prove to be highly significant for White`s career, potentially seeing him promote two major combat sports events on the same day.
Paul, who is also a promoter, stated on X (formerly Twitter) that he feels compelled to acknowledge White`s bold entry into the boxing scene. He quoted White`s comment, saying, “Dana White is the promoter for Canelo Crawford & he doesn’t have to put up 1 $. Fair play Dana. Fair play.”
Jake Paul`s Upcoming Fight
Following his victory over Mike Tyson last November, Jake Paul is scheduled to return to the ring on June 28. His opponent will be Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., the son of a legendary boxer.
Chavez Jr. is a former WBC middleweight champion with 62 professional fights, including bouts against Canelo Alvarez and Daniel Jacobs. At 39 years old, his recent career has included facing former MMA stars such as Anderson Silva and Uriah Hall. He was originally set to fight Darren Till on the undercard of the postponed Paul vs Tyson event.
Paul and Chavez Jr. are now scheduled to meet on June 28 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The fight card is also expected to feature former UFC bantamweight champion Holly Holm`s return to boxing against Yolanda Vega.
