Veteran forward Jeff Skinner is set to join the San Jose Sharks, having agreed to a one-year contract worth $3 million, the team announced on Friday.

Skinner recently played for the Edmonton Oilers during the past season, where he accumulated 29 points (16 goals and 13 assists) across 72 regular-season games.

He also made his debut in the NHL playoffs after 15 years in the league, appearing in five games for the Oilers with one goal and one assist during their run to the Stanley Cup Final.

The 33-year-old Toronto native began his NHL career after being drafted seventh overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2010. He earned the Calder Trophy as the top rookie, recording 63 points (31 goals, 32 assists) in the 2010-11 season.

Skinner later moved to the Buffalo Sabres via trade before the 2018-19 season, achieving a career-high 40 goals that year. He surpassed his previous personal best of 63 points (hit three times) by registering 82 points (35 goals, 47 assists) in the 2022-23 season.

The Sabres bought out the remainder of his contract in the summer of 2024.

Throughout his career spanning 1,078 games with the Hurricanes, Sabres, and Oilers, Skinner has compiled a total of 699 points, including 373 goals and 326 assists.
