Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) is thrilled to announce the addition of former UFC standout Joe Lauzon to the lineup for BKFC 92, a landmark combat sports event taking place at the legendary Fenway Park on Saturday, August 29. Lauzon, a prominent figure from Bridgewater, MA, will be making his highly anticipated debut in the welterweight division. His opponent is yet to be revealed.
With a distinguished fifteen-year career in the UFC, Joe Lauzon amassed an impressive 28-15 record. Throughout his tenure, he engaged in memorable bouts against notable fighters such as Jorge Masvidal, Diego Sanchez, Al Iaquinta, Anthony Pettis, Kenny Florian, and Brandon Melendez. As a fan favorite in Boston, Lauzon’s fights frequently earned him ‘Fight of the Night’ accolades.
“Joe Lauzon is a beloved sports personality in the Boston area, and we are incredibly excited for him to step into the bare-knuckle arena at our Fenway Park event,” stated David Feldman, Founder and President of BKFC.
Lauzon expressed his enthusiasm: “I’m eager to join forces with BKFC. The opportunity to return to the spotlight, especially in my hometown of Boston, was one I couldn’t let pass by.”
He added, “What truly excites me is the prospect of fighting at Fenway Park. I’ve competed in Boston before, including at TD Garden, but there’s a unique magic to fighting on the field at Fenway. I grew up a devoted Red Sox fan, played baseball as a child, and watched the Red Sox clinch the World Series during my college years. The chance to fight there is truly extraordinary.”
“Boston has always been incredibly supportive of me. Every time I’ve fought there, my friends, family, and supporters have filled the venue. I’m looking forward to experiencing that energy once again. Fenway Park stands as one of the most iconic venues in sports, and the opportunity to compete there is an experience I will cherish forever.”
BKFC 92 holds historical significance as it will be the first sanctioned bare-knuckle fighting event to be held in the Commonwealth. This thrilling evening of competition will unfold directly on the field and will be headlined by the reigning BKFC Featherweight World Champion and #3 ranked pound-for-pound fighter, ‘King’ Kai Stewart (9-0) from Great Falls, Montana. Stewart will be defending his world title for a record sixth time against the undefeated New England combat sports star, Harry ‘The Hitman’ Gigliotti (6-0, 5 KOs) from Haverhill, MA.
Further details regarding additional fights for this world-class bare-knuckle boxing event will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
