UFC commentator Joe Rogan has put forth an intriguing idea: a featherweight championship showdown between Alexander Volkanovski and Movsar Evloev, potentially hosted at a ‘UFC White House’ event.
Evloev recently secured a closely contested victory over Lerone Murphy in the main event of UFC London at the O2 Arena. The judges ultimately sided with Evloev, a win that strongly positions him for a shot at the UFC featherweight title in his next octagon appearance.
Champion Alexander Volkanovski has expressed his readiness to defend his belt against Evloev. Known for being a ‘fighting champion’ always willing to face tough challengers, Volkanovski’s stance aligns with the potential matchup.
Rogan believes that adding a Volkanovski-Evloev bout would serve as a significant draw for any potential UFC White House card.
Rogan on Volkanovski vs Evloev
Commenting on the proposed fight, Rogan shared his thoughts on his “Fight Companion” podcast: “The Evloev thing was very impressive. The fact that he was able to stand with him was very impressive to me. I’m into (Volkanovski vs. Evloev). After this? It has to be, or something is terrible in the world. White House lawn, let’s go. Give the man a couple of months off. We’re only in March, it’s in June. Come on, spice that card up, baby.” He added, regarding the pressure on fighters: “The pressure he must be getting to try and finish fights in strikes, and strike with people must be nuts.”
This suggestion from Rogan sparks a debate among fans: Is Movsar Evloev the rightful next challenger for the UFC featherweight championship, or should another contender step forward?
