During the third season of ALF Reality 3, a Russian adaptation of The Ultimate Fighter, rival coaches Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier found themselves in a highly volatile situation. Following a violent on-set brawl, Cormier, deeply shaken, expressed his immediate desire to abandon the show and return home. However, in an unexpected turn, his long-time adversary, Jon Jones, stepped in as a mediator, successfully persuading “DC” to remain and complete filming.
The Violent Incident Unfolds on Set
The chaos unfolded during the third episode when a physical confrontation erupted between two fighters. One participant, after being struck in the face, dangerously retrieved a knife from the kitchen, intending to use it for self-defense. Jon Jones swiftly intervened, disarming the fighter and preventing potential serious injury. Other fighters present also contributed to de-escalating the situation, stepping in to calm those involved in the altercation.
The dangerous melee left everyone on set feeling unsafe, including both Jones and Cormier. Once the immediate threat was neutralized, Cormier voiced his intention to withdraw from the production, declaring his wish to fly back home.
“I think we’re gonna go home. I might give them their money back and stay home. I can’t do this sh*t. It’s too much. Somebody’s going to get hurt bad. Like, bad. Somebody’s going to get really bad.”
Jon Jones Steps in as Peacemaker on ALF Reality 3
Despite their ongoing rivalry and consistent verbal jabs throughout the series, Jon Jones adopted a peacemaking role at a critical moment. He made it clear to everyone present that if Cormier were to leave, he himself would seriously consider quitting the show as well. Jones then urged all the fighters to put aside their personal conflicts and prevent the situation from spiraling out of control. He emphasized their collective goal: to produce quality television, which would be impossible if one of the coaches were to abandon the project midway.
Jones articulated his perspective:
“Right now, one of our coaches is debating on staying. At the end of the day, Daniel Cormier is a big star in America. He’s a father, he’s a coach. It’s his responsibility to make sure that his team is safe while they’re out here. At the end of the day, this competition, we’re all on the same team.”
He further elaborated on the gravity of the situation:
“I know you guys have real conflicts, but ultimately, our goal is to make good TV. If we lose one of our coaches, we can’t make good TV. The fighting, the violence, it’s a lot of fun. But nothing on this show is worth losing your life, whether that’s in the ground or in jail. I understand how Daniel feels, because when I see things like knives, I personally don’t want to be here either. So guys, please don’t make it hard for myself or Daniel by making this show life-threatening.”
Following Jones’s impactful address to the team, a sense of calm settled over the room, with everyone seemingly reaching a consensus. “Bones” then extended his gratitude to “DC” for his decision to stay.
