BKFC Featherweight Champion Kai Stewart is gearing up for his title defense this Friday against Nico Gaffie at BKFC 87 in Hollywood, Florida. While fully concentrated on the immediate challenge, Stewart openly discusses his ambitious plans to expand his championship reign across multiple weight categories within the promotion.
Stewart has his sights set on challenging Justin Ibarrola for the 135-pound bantamweight championship. He is also keenly interested in the vacant BKFC lightweight title, though his preference for an opponent hinges on the outcome of the Austin Trout versus Ben Bonner bout. Stewart expressed a desire to avoid fighting his friend and fellow competitor, Austin Trout, stating he would instead eagerly face Ben Bonner for the lightweight gold if Bonner were to win.
“The sky is the limit,” Stewart stated, highlighting his youth and potential. He envisions himself becoming a three-division champion and ultimately setting a record as a six-time world champion in BKFC. Beyond official titles, Stewart is open to other high-profile matchups, including a potential clash with Luis Palomino for the “King of the Streets” belt and even a personal rivalry bout with Tony Soto.
In his current featherweight division, Stewart aims for an impressive ten successful title defenses. Despite these grand aspirations, he remains grounded, emphasizing the critical importance of first overcoming Nico Gaffie. Stewart also hopes to maintain a busy fight schedule, targeting three bouts this year to stay active and further his legacy.
