The upcoming week in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) is set to be marked by a series of significant events and anniversaries that could make history. From individual player achievements to team milestones, fans can look forward to witnessing new records being set.
Nikita Gusev (Dynamo Moscow) — Quest for 700 KHL Points
Dynamo Moscow forward Nikita Gusev is on the verge of becoming only the fourth player in KHL history to reach 700 points. He needs just one more point to achieve this milestone, with his current tally standing at 699 (255 goals + 444 assists). These points were accumulated during his time with CSKA, Amur, Yugra, SKA, and Dynamo. Ahead of Gusev in the KHL all-time scoring list are only Alexander Radulov (762), Sergei Mozyakin (928), and Vadim Shipachyov (984). This achievement is anticipated to occur in games on September 29 against Neftekhimik, October 2 against Traktor, or October 5 against Torpedo.
Andrei Sergeev (Lokomotiv) — Closing in on 300 KHL Points
Lokomotiv Yaroslavl defenseman Andrei Sergeev is just three offensive actions away from reaching the 300-point mark. Should he achieve this goal, he will become the fourth defenseman in KHL history to cross this threshold. Currently, the leaders among defensemen are Kevin Dallman (431), Ilya Nikulin (367), and Kirill Koltsov (322). Sergeev has scored 63 goals and provided 234 assists. Among active players, Igor Ozhiganov (289) is also closely approaching 300 points. His milestone games are scheduled for September 29 against Dynamo Minsk, October 1 against Barys, and October 3 against Avangard.
Stéphane Da Costa (Avtomobilist) — Aiming for 300 KHL Assists
French forward Stéphane Da Costa of Avtomobilist has the chance to become the tenth player in KHL history to record 300 assists. He currently has 298 assists. The all-time record for assists is held by Vadim Shipachyov (677), while among foreign players, Linus Omark leads with 305. Da Costa could reach this milestone in matches on September 29 against Ak Bars, October 1 against Amur, or October 4 against Neftekhimik.
Dmitry Kvartalnov (Dynamo Minsk) — Poised for 600 KHL Wins
Dynamo Minsk head coach Dmitry Kvartalnov is on the cusp of two significant anniversaries this season. Soon, he could secure his 600th KHL victory, currently standing at 598 wins in 970 matches. He has every chance to become the first coach in league history to reach this milestone. His closest pursuer, Igor Nikitin, currently has 465 wins. Furthermore, Kvartalnov could also become the first coach to oversee 1000 games. His 600th win might occur as early as October 1 in the game against Severstal.
Club Milestones: Salavat Yulaev (1200 Games) and HC Sochi (700 Games)
This week will also feature milestone games for two clubs. Salavat Yulaev is preparing to play its 1200th KHL game on October 1 against Sibir, becoming the sixth club to achieve this mark. Ahead of the Ufa team are Metallurg (1238), Ak Bars (1227), SKA (1220), CSKA (1210), and Avangard (1208). Out of 1199 games played, Salavat Yulaev has secured 686 wins against 513 losses.
