Connor Bedard, 21, Named Chicago Blackhawks Captain
Connor Bedard is the new captain for the Chicago Blackhawks.
The 21-year-old Canadian is the 37th captain in the club's history.
"Connor embodies what it means to be a Blackhawk. From his first NHL season, he has led the team, demanded much from himself, and helped his teammates improve. He is respected for his work ethic, dedication, and off-ice conduct. We are confident he is ready for this responsibility. It is a great honor for the club to have him as captain," said Chicago General Manager Kyle Davidson.
Bedard received the captain's 'C' at 21 years and 60 days old. Only Jonathan Toews, at 20 years and 79 days, was younger when named captain of the Blackhawks. Toews captained the team from 2008 to 2023, leading them to three Stanley Cups in 2010, 2013, and 2015.
"Chicago" selected Bedard first overall in the 2023 NHL Draft. In three seasons, the forward has played 219 regular-season games, scoring 203 points (75 goals, 128 assists). In the 2025-26 season, he recorded 75 points (30 goals, 45 assists) in 69 games.
