As of May 21, 2025, several prominent goalies in the Kontinental Hockey League are set to become unrestricted free agents this offseason unless they sign new contracts. This makes a change of team a distinct possibility for each of them. Here are some of the top netminders potentially available on the UFA market.
Ivan Bocharov
Ivan Bocharov, who recently turned 30, spent the 2024/2025 season with Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod. This was his third KHL team, following stints with his hometown club Dynamo Moscow and Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. While he was the backup to Daniil Isaev in Yaroslavl, his time in Nizhny Novgorod was split relatively evenly with Ivan Kulbakov. Bocharov had a solid season, recording 12 wins in 35 games, a .911 save percentage, and three shutouts. He also set a new Torpedo record for the longest shutout streak at 220 minutes and 31 seconds.
Denis Kostin
Denis Kostin had his best KHL season to date, serving as the primary goaltender for Sibir Novosibirsk. In the regular season, he played 47 games, securing 22 wins with impressive statistics: a .930 save percentage (ranking third in the league), a 2.28 goals-against average, and six shutouts. His playoff start against Salavat Yulaev was challenging for both him and Sibir, but his performance significantly improved from Game 3, which he capped with a shutout. He finished the season strong with two consecutive games registering over 30 saves.
Zach Fucale
Zach Fucale`s two-year contract with Traktor Chelyabinsk is concluding. Over his two seasons, the Canadian netminder endeared himself to fans with his passionate playing style, which proved highly valuable for Traktor in both the 2024 playoffs and their current run to the Gagarin Cup final. Although his statistics were formally better in the previous playoff year, Fucale seemed to find his rhythm after a somewhat slow start against Admiral Vladivostok in the current playoffs, returning to his usual high standard. He had an excellent 2024/2025 regular season, leading the league in shutouts (9) and finishing among the top 10 goalies in both save percentage and goals-against average.
Patrik Rybár
Patrik Rybár, a bronze medalist at the 2022 Olympic Games, also changed teams mid-season. His third season with Spartak Moscow was more challenging than previous years, though this seemed potentially linked more to Spartak`s defensive approach than Rybár`s individual form. The move to Kunlun Red Star appeared to re-energize him; he began his tenure with the Dragons by recording a shutout victory against CSKA Moscow, making 37 saves. In total, Rybár played 15 games for Kunlun, registering over 30 saves in eight of those contests.
