KHL club Lokomotiv Yaroslavl has signed forward Maxim Shalunov to a new contract that extends through the 2025/26 season.
The hockey player`s salary has been reduced from 85 million to 55 million rubles. This decrease was made possible because the club is permitted to pay players unlimited championship bonuses for winning the Gagarin Cup, which effectively compensates for the lower base salary.
During the 2024/25 FONBET KHL Championship season, the 32-year-old Russian forward recorded 37 points (18 goals, 19 assists) in 60 games. In the 2025 Gagarin Cup playoffs, he contributed 13 points (6 goals, 7 assists) over 21 matches.
