Mixed martial arts fighter Arman Tsarukyan recently engaged in a conversation with looksmaxxing influencer and streamer Braden Peters, known online as Clavicular, who proposed an unconventional method for Tsarukyan to secure more opportunities for UFC title fights.
Despite an impressive submission victory over Dan Hooker at UFC Qatar in 2025 and being a top lightweight contender, Tsarukyan has been repeatedly denied a championship bout. He hopes to serve as a backup for the lightweight title unification fight between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje at UFC Freedom 250 in 2026.
During their discussion, Clavicular suggested that fighters with a more “marketable” appearance tend to receive preferential treatment from the promotion, potentially leading to more title fight opportunities. He remarked, “You would probably be able to get more title fights, the better looking you were. So it could be worth it. Everyone can improve. Even the best-looking person in the world. So get a little better.”
Tsarukyan responded humorously to the advice, quipping, “Now I’m gonna do Botox to get my title fight. That’s why they didn’t give me [a title shot], because I’m ugly.”
Why Arman Tsarukyan Has Been Denied a Title Shot
The denial of a title shot for Tsarukyan stems from various factors. He had to withdraw from a scheduled title fight against then-lightweight champion Islam Makhachev at UFC 311 due to a hernia. Additionally, UFC President Dana White has cited Tsarukyan’s “antics” both inside and outside the octagon, including an incident where he allegedly punched a fan and headbutted Dan Hooker, as reasons for withholding a championship opportunity.
Tsarukyan has since pledged to maintain good conduct, hoping to compete for the title before the end of 2026.
