The status of Los Angeles Kings forward Corey Perry is uncertain after he sustained an injury during a pre-camp skate. The 40-year-old player is reportedly undergoing further evaluation following the incident that occurred on Friday.
According to initial reports, the injury took place during a skate when Perry went into the boards at the Kings` practice facility in El Segundo. Witnesses indicated he was taken off the ice in a wheelchair. It remains unclear whether an official update on his condition will be released before the main training camp commences.
Perry, one of the few active NHL players from the 2003 draft class, spent the previous season with the Edmonton Oilers. In 81 games, he recorded 30 points (19 goals and 11 assists), marking his best performance since the 2021-22 season. On July 1, he signed a one-year, $2 million contract with the Los Angeles Kings as a free agent.
