SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Mammoth have secured the services of forward Jack McBain with a five-year contract extension valued at $21.25 million.
The agreement, announced Monday, carries an annual average value (AAV) of $4.25 million and runs through the 2029-30 NHL season. The signing comes just over 24 hours after the team filed for salary arbitration with the restricted free agent.
General Manager Bill Armstrong praised McBain`s attributes, stating, “He is a big, strong, physical player who competes hard on a nightly basis and brings a gritty toughness to our group. Jack is an important part of the championship-caliber team we are building, and we look forward to having him back on our roster for the foreseeable future.”
The 25-year-old forward is coming off a career-best season where he registered 27 points while playing in all 82 games. He was one of only six players to appear in every game during the organization`s inaugural season in Salt Lake City.
President of Hockey Operations Chris Armstrong highlighted McBain`s valuable traits, saying, “Jack’s versatility as a player, his care for his teammates and his demonstrated willingness to do whatever it takes to win, are all critical elements to our future team success.”
Overall, McBain has accumulated 82 points in 241 games with the franchise, which recently relocated to Utah from Arizona. Since making his NHL debut in April 2022, he ranks third across the league in hits with 832.
