The New York Islanders have been granted permission by the Toronto Maple Leafs to speak with Brendan Shanahan regarding a potential front office role.
Shanahan`s current contract is set to expire on June 30th. He has served as the Maple Leafs` president since April 2014.
The Islanders reportedly sought authorization from Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment, the organization that owns the Toronto Maple Leafs, to hold these discussions with Shanahan.
