Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving addresses the media regarding team matters.

The Toronto Maple Leafs and forward Ty Voit are officially parting ways. The club has placed the young winger on unconditional waivers with the express purpose of terminating his contract, a development initially reported by Elliotte Friedman.

According to information from David Alter of The Hockey News, this decision was reached through a mutual and amicable agreement between both parties.

Voit, 22, became part of the Toronto organization during the 2023-24 season. His tenure included a single appearance in the AHL before he spent the majority of his playing time with the Cincinnati Cyclones in the ECHL. During his 63 games in the ECHL, he recorded eight goals and 37 points.

Originally selected by the Maple Leafs in the fifth round of the 2021 NHL Draft, as the 153rd overall pick, Voit is set to become an unrestricted free agent should he successfully clear the waiver process.

In a related move within the league, the Calgary Flames have also initiated similar proceedings, placing Joni Jurmo on unconditional waivers for contract termination.
