NHL Records: Most Assists in a Single Game

Connor McDavid, affectionately dubbed `McJesus` by hockey fans, continues to impress with his exceptional skill on the ice. His remarkable talent was particularly evident on February 13, 2024.

On that date, the three-time Hart Memorial Trophy recipient achieved a career-best six assists, guiding the Edmonton Oilers to an 8-4 victory against the Detroit Red Wings.

Despite this outstanding performance, McDavid humbly downplayed his achievement post-game, attributing success to the `good players` on his team. While he became the 26th player in NHL history to record at least six assists in a single contest, only two individuals have surpassed this feat.

Players with the Most Assists in a Single NHL Game:

7 Assists (Four Occasions)

  • Wayne Gretzky (Edmonton Oilers)

    • February 14, 1986: 8-2 win against Quebec Nordiques
    • December 11, 1985: 12-9 win at Chicago Black Hawks (team name was spelled `Black Hawks` until 1986)
    • February 15, 1980: 8-2 win against Washington Capitals
  • Billy Taylor Sr. (Detroit Red Wings)

    • March 16, 1947: 10-6 win at Chicago Black Hawks
