After spending his entire professional career thus far with the Winnipeg Jets organization, the skilled forward recently signed a substantial six-year contract worth $51 million with the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday.
Speaking publicly for the first time since the agreement (via Zoom on Saturday), Ehlers expressed deep appreciation and positive feelings for his previous team.
“As I told them, they didn`t do anything wrong,” Ehlers commented to the media. “I spent a decade there, and I truly cherished my time. I have immense respect for the organization, the individuals involved, and my teammates. They truly became like family to me.”
He described the decision to leave as profoundly “emotional,” adding that despite moving on, he would always maintain affection for the Jets and their dedicated fanbase.
