Edmonton Oilers forward Zach Hyman is hopeful that his fractured wrist will not prevent him from starting the 2025-26 NHL season on time.
Hyman recently indicated he is still wearing a brace on his wrist following surgery and is not participating in activities like golf.
Providing an update, Hyman stated, “I feel good still wearing the brace. I get it off in a couple weeks, which is great. I`m still in the recovery phase, but looking forward to getting back on the ice and getting going when I can.”
The injury occurred in Game 4 of the Western Conference Final against the Dallas Stars. Hyman was hit by Mason Marchment in the neutral zone while attempting to move the puck out of his zone.
Immediately after the hit, Hyman dropped his stick and went to the locker room, holding his right arm.
Asked about being ready for the next season`s start, Hyman expressed caution about committing to a specific date, referencing past injury experiences.
He commented, “I don`t even know what the timeline is, to be honest, but that`s definitely not out of the question.” Hyman explained, “I haven`t set a date or anything like that. I`ve dealt with it with the ACL. Once you set a date, you get disappointed if you don`t play on that date. So I hope to play on opening night. I don`t know if I will.”
