While the Edmonton Oilers are currently competing for the Stanley Cup, they are also actively planning for their future roster.
The team announced on Saturday that they have signed forward Viljami Marjala to a two-year entry-level contract.
Marjala, who is 22 years old, has spent the last three seasons playing professionally in his native Finland. During this time, he accumulated a total of 29 goals and 72 assists across 129 games.
Last season, the six-foot-one, 180-pound forward was the leading scorer for TPS Turku, recording 52 points. This tally included an impressive 44 assists.
He was initially drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the fifth round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, following two seasons playing in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).
