The Toronto Maple Leafs have completed a trade sending forward Ryan Reaves to the San Jose Sharks. In return, the Leafs acquire defenseman Henry Thrun.
Reaves, 38, played just 35 regular-season games for Toronto during the 2024-25 campaign, recording two assists. His time with the Maple Leafs spans two seasons, where he appeared in a total of 84 games.
“We`re excited to welcome Ryan to the organization,” said Sharks general manager Mike Grier. “He will bring energy, personality, physical play and toughness to our group. He has been a part of many winning teams, and I witnessed firsthand the positive impact he can bring to a group when I was with the Rangers.”
Thrun, a 24-year-old blueliner, played 60 games with the Sharks last season. He registered two goals and 12 points while averaging 17:31 of ice time per game.
Originally a fourth-round pick by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2019 NHL Draft, Thrun was traded to San Jose in 2023 for a third-round selection. In his NHL career covering 119 games, he has accumulated five goals and 25 points.
