ONE Championship recently held ONE Fight Night 30 at Lumpinee Stadium.
In the co-main event of the evening, Regian Eersel faced Alexis Nicolas for the third time. Eersel emerged victorious, outpointing the French fighter over five rounds to win by majority decision. However, despite the win in the cage, Eersel did not retain the ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Title. He had missed weight and failed hydration tests prior to the bout, resulting in him losing the championship on the scale before the fight even started. The title was subsequently declared vacant.
Eersel established control early in the contest, setting the pace and landing clean combinations to the head and body. Nicolas responded with sharp low kicks, attempting to slow down the Surinamese champion, but Eersel remained composed and dictated the action.
Momentum swung further in Eersel’s favor in the second round when he increased his pressure and scored a knockdown against Nicolas with a heavy left hook towards the end of the frame.
Nicolas came out aggressively in the third, aiming to turn the tide of the fight. However, Eersel maintained his advantage, landing more accurate and impactful strikes throughout the latter rounds.
After the fight went the distance, Eersel was awarded a majority decision victory. While this added another win to his professional record, the ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Title remained vacant due to his failure to make the required weight.
