The Seattle Kraken have secured one of their promising young blue-liners by signing defenceman Kaden Hammell.
The team officially announced Sunday they have signed Hammell to a three-year, entry-level contract with an average annual value (AAV) of $908,333.
Kraken general manager Jason Botterill commented in a team statement, “`Kaden took another positive step in his development this year. He was a leader on the Silvertips and elevated his game in the playoffs. We`re excited to have him under contract for the next three years.`”
The 20-year-old defenceman recently completed a strong season with the Everett Silvertips of the WHL. He recorded 38 points (10 goals, 28 assists) in 59 regular-season games. Hammell was also a significant contributor in the playoffs, adding 13 points (four goals, nine assists) in 13 post-season appearances.
A native of Langley, British Columbia, Hammell was selected by the Kraken in the fifth round, 148th overall, during the 2023 NHL Draft.
