The Tampa Bay Lightning announced Sunday they have signed forward Scott Sabourin to a one-year, two-way contract.

The 32-year-old spent the majority of the past season with the San Jose Barracuda, the AHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks. In 68 appearances for the Barracuda, Sabourin posted 10 goals and 25 points while serving as an alternate captain.

The six-foot-four, 207-pound forward appeared in one NHL game with the Sharks last season. During his 10 minutes and 27 seconds of ice time in that game, he did not register any points and finished with a minus-two rating.

Sabourin has played a total of 47 NHL games across five seasons. These appearances include stints with the Ottawa Senators (42 games over two separate occasions), the Toronto Maple Leafs (one game), and the Sharks (four games). In his NHL career, he has recorded two goals and eight points, accumulating a minus-10 rating.

Originally from Orleans, Ontario, Sabourin possesses extensive AHL experience, with 532 games played for multiple teams including the Barracuda, Belleville Senators, Toronto Marlies, Stockton Heat, San Diego Gulls, Iowa Wild, Ontario Reign, and Manchester Monarchs. Over his AHL career, he has scored 88 goals and collected 181 points.

Sabourin was not selected in the NHL Entry Draft but signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Los Angeles Kings in 2013. He made his NHL debut in 2019 as a 32-year-old with the Senators against the Maple Leafs, notably scoring his first NHL goal on his initial shot.
