Following the official announcement of the upcoming UFC 317 event, former UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria shared his thoughts.
It was previously revealed that Topuria is set to headline the card in Las Vegas, USA, on June 28th, where he will face Charles Oliveira. Their bout will contest the full lightweight championship. This development comes as the current lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev, is reportedly moving up in weight to challenge the new welterweight champion, Jack Della Maddalena.
“On June 28th, another dream will come true for me. I will become the champion in the lightweight division. Charles, I apologize in advance… I`m simply fighting for my dream,” Topuria wrote on X, before adding a comment directed at the current lightweight king: “It’s a pity that Makhachev ran away. 17-0.”
