UFC 328: Van vs. Taira Flyweight Title Fight Rescheduled, Chimaev vs. Strickland Headlines

The highly anticipated UFC flyweight championship bout pitting current titleholder Joshua Van against challenger Tatsuro Taira has been rescheduled. Originally set for the UFC 327 event on April 11 in Miami, the fight will now take place at UFC 328 on May 9 in New Jersey.

UFC 328, which will be held in Newark, is set to be headlined by a compelling middleweight title clash between champion Khamzat Chimaev and former titleholder Sean Strickland.

While the precise reason for this schedule adjustment remains undisclosed, the relatively short delay from April to May is generally viewed favorably, suggesting no major underlying issues.

Van secured the flyweight championship in December following an injury to the then-reigning champion, Alexandre Pantoja, during their bout. His upcoming contest against Taira will mark his inaugural title defense as champion, a significant milestone in his career.
