Henry Cejudo Faces Undefeated Boxer Wanna Walton After Deen The Great Withdraws
Former UFC champion Henry Cejudo will make his boxing debut against an undefeated boxer. The fight is scheduled for September 26 at a Misfits event in Miami. Cejudo's original opponent, Deen The Great, has pulled out less than two weeks before the event.
Misfits announced that Cejudo will now face Most Valuable Promotions boxer Wanna Walton. Misfits stated on X, “HENRY CEJUDO 🆚 WANNA WALTON – MISFITS, MIAMI, SEPTEMBER 26 🌴🥊 Olympic Gold Medalist and former two-division UFC Champion Henry Cejudo takes on 3-0-1 pro boxer and Superstar Euphoria actor Javon “Wanna” Walton, one of MVP’s brightest young prospects.”
Walton boxes for Jake Paul’s promotion, but his upcoming fight against Cejudo marks a switch to KSI’s Misfits promotion, making him a surprise opponent. Despite the challenging matchup, Cejudo is confident.
Henry Cejudo's Statement on Opponent Change
“I knew all along that Dean The Bitch would back out, and so I am not surprised he has done,” Cejudo said in a press release. “But I have a new opponent now, who thinks he’s a fighter, but Wanna will be playing another robot by the time I’m done with him.”
Cejudo's MMA career includes a 16-6 record, concluding his UFC tenure with a four-fight losing streak. His last bout was a decision loss to Payton Talbott in December. He also lost fights against Song Yadong, Merab Dvalishvili, and Aljamain Sterling for the title. He previously held titles in the flyweight and bantamweight divisions, with notable wins against Dominick Cruz, TJ Dillashaw, and Demetrious Johnson.
The Misfits boxing card also includes Tony Ferguson's return against Kenzo Biyong.
