As the NHL`s buyout period approaches its end, two forwards have been put on waivers.
According to Sportsnet`s Elliotte Friedman, Joe Veleno and Conor Sheary were waived on Sunday.
Conor Sheary had one year remaining on his contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning, carrying a $2 million cap hit. The 33-year-old veteran played only five games this past season and was placed on waivers by Tampa Bay to free up salary cap space.
Joe Veleno was also on the books for one more year, having signed a two-year, $4.55 million contract last off-season. He arrived in Seattle via a trade from the Chicago Blackhawks involving Andre Burakovsky.
Last season, split between the Detroit Red Wings and Blackhawks, Veleno recorded eight goals and 17 points over 74 games.
