Captain Lowry`s Recovery Update

Winnipeg Jets captain Adam Lowry, who underwent hip surgery in late May, is targeting a return to the ice by late October or early November. Lowry confirmed on Thursday that his recovery is progressing well, even lightheartedly mentioning that he would be skating in “solitary confinement” over the next few weeks to prevent any aggravation of his injury. The team expects to be without their leader for the initial weeks of the season.

The 32-year-old forward`s surgery took place just ten days after the Jets` elimination by the Dallas Stars in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Despite the impending procedure, Lowry played in all 13 of Winnipeg`s postseason games, notably scoring the crucial double-overtime winner in Game 7 of their first-round series against the St. Louis Blues.

Career Highlights and Contract Status

Lowry, a dedicated Jet since being drafted 67th overall in the third round in 2011, recorded 16 goals and 18 assists in 73 regular-season games this past season, along with four additional goals in the playoffs. Throughout his 775-game career with Winnipeg, he has accumulated a total of 121 goals and 152 assists, solidifying his role as a key player for the franchise.

This season marks the final year of Lowry`s five-year contract, inked in 2021, with an average annual value of $3.25 million. The Jets, who celebrated a league-best 116 points and the Presidents` Trophy last season, are set to kick off their new campaign on October 9 by hosting the Dallas Stars, hoping for a strong start even without their captain initially.
