The Wu Lin Feng 553 event took place at the packed Tangshan Sports Center in Tangshan, China. China`s leading kickboxing promotion hosted its second show of the year, delivering an exciting night of fights.
Although the highly anticipated lightweight bout between Luo Chao and Kacper Muszyński was cancelled due to Muszyński suffering a back injury, the card still featured several engaging matchups for the fans in attendance.
A particularly notable contest was the clash between Meng Gaofeng, who had previously lost to Tomás Aguirre in September, and Yodkhunpon Weerasakreck, the fighter who captured the K-1 Super Lightweight title on the same night.
Despite Yodkhunpon initially missing weight by 0.8 kg, incurring a one-point penalty, the fight went ahead. Both fighters exchanged high-quality strikes in a competitive back-and-forth battle. However, Meng Gaofeng`s sustained pressure led Yodkhunpon to repeatedly rely on clinching tactics to disrupt the action. This resulted in the referees deducting a second point from Yodkhunpon for excessive holding. The cumulative two-point penalty proved decisive, allowing Meng Gaofeng to secure a narrow unanimous decision victory with a score of 28-27 on the judges` scorecards.
