Charles Oliveira, the newly crowned UFC BMF champion, has officially inked a new eight-fight agreement with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
The 36-year-old Brazilian fighter recently claimed the BMF title by defeating Max Holloway at UFC 326. With this new deal, Oliveira has his sights set on regaining the lightweight championship and is currently ranked as the No. 3 contender in the division.
Previously, Oliveira competed against Ilia Topuria for the vacant lightweight belt at UFC 317, but suffered a first-round knockout. Following that setback, he made a strong comeback, securing a submission victory over Mateusz Gamrot and then earning a unanimous decision win against Max Holloway in their rematch.
At 36 years old, Oliveira is determined to reclaim the UFC lightweight title, and his team has confirmed that retirement is not on the horizon.
Details of Charles Oliveira’s New UFC Deal
In a recent interview with Ag. Fight, Oliveira’s coach, Diego Lima, revealed that his fighter has signed an eight-fight contract with the UFC, indicating plans to compete for at least another four years.
“It was a wonderful deal. There’s nothing negative to say; it was an incredible deal. We have fights planned until Charles turns 40. So for those who were predicting his retirement, you’ll have to wait a little longer.”
Oliveira has expressed interest in defending his BMF title against Conor McGregor, who is anticipated to make his return in July during International Fight Week. However, there has been no official announcement regarding his next fight or opponent.
