Coach Believes Gina Carano Will Fight Again After Short-Lived MMA Return

Gina Carano’s head coach, John Wood of Syndicate MMA, is confident that the former MMA fighter will step back into the octagon for at least one more bout. Carano recently made her return to mixed martial arts after a 17-year hiatus, facing UFC Hall of Famer Ronda Rousey at MVP MMA 1. The highly anticipated women’s superfight concluded quickly, with Carano being submitted in just 17 seconds, preventing her from showcasing her skills.

Following her loss to Carano, Rousey announced her retirement from fighting. Carano, however, has remained non-committal about her future, leaving fans and analysts speculating whether she will retire again or continue her fighting career, as many believe she still has valuable contributions to offer the sport.

Jake Paul’s MVP promotion has expressed interest in having Gina Carano fight under their banner again. In a recent interview with Home Of Fight, coach John Wood shared his positive outlook on Carano’s fighting future. He stated that the 44-year-old still possesses the ability to compete and defeat many opponents. Wood expressed his desire to see Carano undergo another training camp and participate in a “fun fight,” indicating his belief that a return is more likely than not, especially with appropriate matchmaking.

Adding to the sentiment, UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili, who also trains with John Wood, believes Carano deserves at least one more fight to properly display her capabilities. After the MVP MMA 1 event, Dvalishvili commented that Carano “has to fight one more time, minimum, because she has to show how good she is.”

Coach John Wood Optimistic About Gina Carano’s MMA Future

Gina Carano’s coach, John Wood, is positive about her potential to fight again. He believes she can still compete effectively and is keen to see her have another opportunity in the ring, ideally for a fight that is both competitive and enjoyable for her.

Merab Dvalishvili Advocates for One More Fight for Gina Carano

UFC champion Merab Dvalishvili agrees that Gina Carano should have at least one more fight to demonstrate her true skill level.
