Conor McGregor appears to be taking his potential UFC return seriously, as evidenced by recent training photos shared on Instagram. The Irish fighter has been hinting at a comeback for some time, but previous scheduled fights, including a planned bout against Michael Chandler at UFC 303, have been postponed. Despite past setbacks and initial doubts from UFC CEO Dana White, McGregor has re-entered the anti-doping testing pool.
His latest social media post featured a series of images from a sparring session, accompanied by a defiant caption: “Legs still sharper than a guillotine. Training with the young wolves, sharpening the blade. The return is coming whether they like it or not.” This suggests McGregor is actively preparing for his next fight.
Veteran MMA journalist Ariel Helwani reported on “The Ariel Helwani Show” that a potential return fight for Conor McGregor against Max Holloway is being seriously considered for UFC 329. The event is tentatively scheduled for July 11 and is set to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, during International Fight Week.
McGregor has been out of action since breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021. His last official win was a quick knockout over Donald Cerrone in January 2020. Max Holloway, on the other hand, recently lost his BMF title to Charles Oliveira at UFC 326. Holloway’s previous fight was a victory over Dustin Poirier at UFC 318. The two fighters have a history, with McGregor defeating Holloway by unanimous decision at UFC Boston in August 2014.
