Former UFC Middleweight Champion Suggests Stripping Oliveira of BMF Title, Proposes Holloway vs. King Green

Luke Rockhold, a former UFC Middleweight Champion, has expressed his disapproval of the current BMF titleholder, Charles Oliveira. While Oliveira secured a dominant victory for the BMF strap, his fighting style, which emphasized grappling over a striking-heavy slugfest against Max Holloway, has drawn criticism from fans and analysts alike. This has led some to believe the BMF title may have lost its intended purpose.

However, Luke Rockhold has a different vision for the championship. During an appearance on the JAXXON Podcast, Rockhold proposed that the UFC strip the BMF title from Charles Oliveira. He suggested that Max Holloway and veteran MMA fighter King Green should then compete for the belt.

King Green is currently on an impressive three-fight win streak, most recently submitting Jeremy Stephens in the first round at UFC 328. This victory at the age of 39 demonstrates that Green still possesses significant fighting capabilities.

Rockhold articulated his stance, stating, “I think you strip the belt from [Charles] Oliveira and you give it back to Max [Holloway] and make you two boys fight for the real BMF belt… You [King Green] deserve that, and Oliveira doesn’t deserve it. I like Oliveira as a fighter, but you don’t fight like that and get a BMF belt. You create a BMF belt to have a real fight.”

King Green also expressed his interest in the BMF title, saying, “I definitely got my eyes on the BMF. I want to do that.”

Former UFC Middleweight Champion Wants to Strip Charles Oliveira of the BMF Title, Calls for Max Holloway vs. King Green

A former UFC middleweight champion is unhappy with the current BMF titleholder, Charles Oliveira. Despite Oliveira’s dominant win of the BMF strap, the Brazilian opted for a wrestling-heavy approach rather than an exciting slugfest to dethrone Max Holloway. This has led to criticism of his performance from many fans and analysts. Some have even suggested that the BMF belt failed to fulfill its purpose at UFC 326 and should be retired.

Luke Rockhold, on the other hand, has alternative plans. On the JAXXON Podcast, former UFC middleweight titleholder Luke Rockhold proposed a bold idea. Rockhold wants the UFC to revoke the BMF belt from Charles Oliveira and instead have Max Holloway and MMA veteran King Green fight for it.

Green is currently on a three-fight winning streak. Just this past weekend at UFC 328, he submitted Jeremy Stephens in Round 1, proving that even at 39 years old, he still has a lot left in the tank. Meanwhile, Rockhold, who desires to see a Green vs. Holloway bout for the BMF title, quipped:

“I think you strip the belt from [Charles] Oliveira and you give it back to Max [Holloway] and make you two boys fight for the real BMF belt… You [King Green] deserve that, and Oliveira doesn’t deserve it. I like Oliveira as a fighter, but you don’t fight like that and get a BMF belt. You create a BMF belt to have a real fight.”

Green added:

“I definitely got my eyes on the BMF. I want to do that.”
